This Morning Routine Will Improve Your Mind

It all starts in the Morning

The whole day awaits you and this is the time when your mind can either help you tackle the day or it can tackle You and sabotage your day’s goals.

There are 3 simple steps to helping your Mind start off on the right “foot”.

  1. Notice

  2. Accept

  3. Action

Notice your thoughts as soon as you wake up. Imagine that you are taking inventory of a pile of words and images that collected overnight. If you enjoy writing things down, you can journal these thoughts and images.

Let yourself Accept each one as valid, interesting & maybe even helpful but don’t get too wrapped up in them. Getting space from these thoughts allows you to accept them without judgment.

Once you’ve taken inventory (don’t go more than a few minutes on this), you’ll imagine setting these thoughts and images on a high shelf. Promise your mind that you’ll come back to them later but for now, you want to commit to getting on with your day.

Now, with a clearer mind you are ready to set an Action plan for the day. Write down your goals for the day and get going with them. If your mind tries to pull the thoughts and images off the “shelf” and present them to you again, just say to your mind : “Thanks for reminding me about that but right now I’m focused on my actions for the day and if we need to, we can revisit this topic later.”

And the more you practice this, the quicker you can move through this exercise.

You can also do this quickly throughout the day if your mind starts throwing a lot of information at you (some people might call these anxious thoughts). Just imagine gathering them all up, and placing them on a high shelf - for now.

I hope you can give this a try and let me know how it goes.
